We Got a Long Way to Go...

...and a short time to get there. I'm east bound, just watch old bandit run.

For the first time ever tonight, I watched 1977's Smokey and the Bandit in its entirety. You get car chases, 28 hour challenges, generic trucker-speak, an almost annoying Jackie Gleason, hairpin turns, cops driving into rivers and Sally Field's ass. Quote of the movie: "This ain't a convoy, this is a dream!" Unfortunately, the experience was slightly cheapened because the movie is essentially a happy version of 1971's Vanishing Point. I know I'm not the first one to draw that parallel, but it's new to me. 1970's American Cinema...Catch the fever.
