Vivian. Cold Calls. Warmth.

Vivian was born yesterday evening at 5:30 p.m. Since her arrival, the weather has warmed up and the hint of Spring is in the air. After Emma and Ruby, Vivian is the third niece born in the last eleven months. All the babies are here...let's have a party. Welcome Vivian! We're happy to see you!

At work last week, I took a cold call from some smooth talking salesperson. She opened by saying "this may be the strangest call you have ever received..." After that comment, she asked me a few questions about my wardrobe. After a few more questions regarding how much I usually spend on clothes, I found myself making an appointment to make this girl some money. This morning, I called her and told her that "after taking a look at my wardrobe and reviewing my finances, I'd be wasting your time." She said she'd follow up on me in a few months. Why didn't I say 'no' when she first called? I figure since she smoothly slipped me into an appointment to shop, I'd get her hopes up on a sale and hang on to an appointment for a few days. The universe balances out.

This Winter act is getting old. It's finally nice to walk down the street without having to bundle up. It's finally nice to walk down the street without wishing for warmer weather. I am ready for Spring to tease us every few days. The occasional warmth can only mean one thing: in just a little more than a month from now, knee-high boots and skirts will make its return on thousands of Chicago Loop females. Ha!
